My sister, Jacki, and I made a trip to AZ the end of April to attend our uncle Jay Fine's funeral. We stayed at our sister, Donna's, house and traveled to Prescott to attend the funeral. Even tho we were attending a funeral and that part of at least somewhat sad, it was so great to see all our relatives. Besides each other, we saw Aunt Sally Parsons Fine, Aunt Mary Beth (Parsons) and Uncle Ron Grippin and their daughter, Peggy, who is in remission from a hard fight with breast cancer; Cousin Donna Louise Parsons (I can't remember her last name now), Uncle Tap and Aunt Barbara Parsons, Cousins Mike Parsons, Curt Parsons and wife Rosie, Bobby Parsons and wife Clela, Jennifer Fine with husband and kids, Jolyn Fine with husband and kids and Rena Fine. Saw old friends of my dad's Johnny Talley and wife...he's the one who taught my dad how to fly an airplane. They had the funeral at the Veteran's Administration chapel and it was overflowing...literally standing room only. The had a color guard and posted the colors...very patriotic and impressive. Uncle Jay was a marine in his younger years. People had a chance to get up and say a word or two about Jay which is really great too.
The day after the funeral, Donna, Jacki and I went out to the Clear Creek Cemetery and cleaned up the graves of our family...Mom and Dad, Uncle Don and Aunt Nancy, Grandpa Allen and Grandma Syd and Grandpa Tommy (Big Tom)...also Donna's in-laws, Gladys and Ted Ralston. Sometimes seems like there's more of them than us left here!
Us sisters always enjoy our time together. We just talk and talk and talk...about the old times growing up, our parents, current issues, families, etc., etc. It's always so good to go home. And so nice that Donna and Rick live in the same house where we grew up in Camp Verde. They've remodeled and it's SO NICE now to go there and stay...not to mention the wonderful hosts they always are to us.
All in all a great couple of days. Jacki and I both wished we could stay longer but just wasn't in the cards this time.
Donna took pictures, so maybe I can post some soon.
